Transitional housing for homeless young adults
Summary:
- The program consists of two family-style homes and IL (Independent Living) apartments that are unstaffed in the community.
- Services young adults ages 18-24
- Independent Living Program is contracted through the Housing of Urban Development and is a self-sufficiency program for homeless youths working towards independence.
- The Pre-Independent program is for youth receiving services through DCF who are working on developing life skills.
- In addition, through DCF, there is a program called Ascentria which is Pre-Independent Living for young adults seeking asylum or citizenship
- Services include comprehensive employment and work-related services, intense employment search and support, housing search and support, voter registration, peer mentoring, community health educators and access to health care, on-site clinical support for all active participants, weekly independent living skills workshops, community recreational events and practical assistance with transportation and other basic needs.
