One Anti-Racist Action You Can Take Today: Volunteer To Be A Poll Worker

Given the obstacles to voting presented by the pandemic and the attacks on the postal service, it’s more important than ever to think about the mechanics of voting and how you can take action to make sure it happens. We’ve previously shared an article on how to get your mail in ballot. Below is an article on understanding how to can cast that vote state by state so you can help out your friends who live elsewhere. Once you’ve obtained your ballot and fill it out there are a few options on how to cast it. You can mail it in early to make sure the post office can deliver it in time, you can deliver it yourself early to your election clerk’s office, you can vote early in person at your local polling place (details on dates below), or you can vote on election day in person.
You can also volunteer to be a poll worker to help others vote in person. Traditionally, a lot of senior citizens volunteer to do this, but the risks of the pandemic mean a lot will not be able to fill this vital role. If you feel comfortable doing so, please consider volunteering yourself. You do not need to volunteer in your polling district. You can volunteer anywhere in Massachusetts.
