FRAMINGHAM, MA – Wayside Youth & Family Support Network recently received a $10,000 grant from the Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation. Wayside was one of the community and nonprofit organizations that received funding as part of $3 million in COVID-19 relief efforts.
“Nonprofit and community organizations like ours remain committed to serving our population with mental health support, funds for food and basic supplies. Coronavirus continues to impact the most vulnerable populations, many of whom have lost their jobs, are unable to work due to limited access to childcare and have limited resources to pay rent and utility bills,” said Eric L. Masi, president and CEO of Wayside.
While many needs are material, residents are also trying to cope with the mental and emotional toll COVID-19 is taking as we continue to stay at home and social distance. To respond to the needs of our communities, Wayside continues to provide mental health services virtually including parent and peer support groups, individual and family therapy, medication management and psychotherapy.
In a previous release, Michael Carson, president and CEO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, said “In this time of uncertainty and rapidly changing dynamics, it’s incredibly important that we provide support for our members and the medical community as well as financial support to the organizations that are assisting our neighbors in need.
