FRAMINGHAM — A local human service agency will offer a stress management workshop for Hispanics to help prevent family conflicts and domestic violence in their midst. The workshop will be conducted in Spanish, and will be similar to others offered in English and Portuguese by Wayside Men Against Violence Program. It will offer tools to help people balance work and family, solve conflicts without violence and manage stress. "We want to help Hispanic families be more resilient," said Enrique Mendez, a psychologist and a program counselor with Wayside. "Preventing is better and cheaper than dealing with the consequences of domestic violence." The workshop is part of a new service recently launched by Wayside Men Against Violence Program to prevent domestic violence. The service includes individual counseling and community workshops. The five-week program will start Thursday, at 7 p.m. at the McAuliffe Charter School. The workshop is free, but preregistration is required. Organizers are expecting 30 people, and are already planning similar workshop in Marlborough. "We want to help families be stronger,"said Mendez. The workshop is funded by MetroWest Community Health Care Foundation in collaboration with Wayside Men Against Violence Program. For more information and registration, call 508-478-6888, ext. 235.
